Mature vs. childish

Quote of the day:
coming from 6 year old kid; Grown-ups are weird because...
1. Everyone of them says how are you? And you always have to say good even if you're not good.

Ouch..you know, I thought about growing up.If you're 10 you want to be an adult. If you're 16, you want to be an adult. If you're 18 you want to be grown up. At least that was the way how I felt about it. Somehow I thought that if you're growing up, that everything will be better. Why? No idea.

A friend of mine once told me, a definition of being mature: 'Being better at putting a mask on.'
After having a lot of experiences I realized that growing up for me meant to put on a mask and always say you're fine even when you're not.

An experience I last had, was that I told some people that I still struggled about being back early from my mission and the reactions I get?

"Ohh...I thought you were over it"
"Well at least you served 3 months.."
"You never show that you're still struggling with it"
"You need to be here, because God wants you to be here"

And so on goes the list...let me clear something up: that's not helping...at all.
If I ask a person, how that person is doing I REALLY want to know how that person is doing and not say "Ohh I'm great" when that's not the case. I wish everybody was like a child and be honest and say the things they want to say ( nice things, not bad things).

Being mature isn't that exciting as you think it is :)

Apologize..

Ahum...so did I say in the beginning that I suck at doing challenges? No?
Well I suck at doing challenges, but I think you already noticed hehe...

So instead of doing a challenge blog, I'm doing 'the life of Jenny' blog..'Cause I have such an exciting life woohoo!

Anyway, as you may know, I'm a huge fan of quotes. I love it and I learn a lot from them..it keeps me focused ya know? And I also like random quotes. So here are a few quotes that totally describe me:

1. *talking to my food*
Me: I hate you.
Me: We break up.
*stop eating* *looks at food again*
Me: You call me.
Me: I love you.

2. I saw that my ironing board cover was all wrinkled. I laughed at the irony. Then I laughed again because irony has the word iron in it.

3. That awkward moment, where theres an awkward moment, and everyone knows it's an awkward moment, then somebody says, "AWWWKKKKWAAARRDD!"

4. I think I'm allergic to mornings.

5. Multiple choice test: A, B, C, or D? Hmm, well I haven't had a B for like 6 questions so I'll choose that.

6. Hardest thing ever? Controlling your laughter at serious times.

7. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!
Except for bears, bears will kill you.

8. Life tip: When nothing goes right go to sleep

9. Lazy rule 31: Can't reach it? Don't need it.

10. Don't try to understand women. Women understand women and they hate each other.

So why does these quotes apply to me? Well let me give you an explanation:
1. I love food. Period.
2. Dry humor- that's me!
3. My name SHOULD be awkward- socially awkward person here!
4. Yep...no morning person...no joke
5. That's the way how I fail my tests!
6. Happens to me all the friggin' time!
7. Well...just because it's true! Being realistic here!
8. I love sleep. And this is a legit tip because when I have a bad day, I go to sleep and then everything is gooooood again.
9. Do I even need to explain this?
10. I'm a guy person. I like to hang out with guys. But hey, if you're a girl and I hang out with you that means you're not that bad :')

Challenge 20: How important you think education is

Stay in school people!

Eduaction is..superduperflupergigantic important. Well yeah, they don't teach you how to survive in this big world. But at the same time if you weren't following an ecudation, where would you be at the moment?

I learned a lot of stuff in school..not just history and how tiny Holland is- I also learned tough experiences, my identity and who you can trust in school and who you can't trust in school. Believe it or not, education actually prepares you to work hard, if you are willing to work hard and do the best you can!

You can learn something every single day!

Never stop striving for the best in you.

Challenge 19: Disrespecting your parents

If you disrespect your parents- SHAME ON YOU, go sit in the corner!
If you do respect your parents- Good for you my friend! You give yourself a pat on the shoulder.

How to Respond to Disrespectful Children and Teens

How to Respond to Disrespectful Children and Teens Ask any parent and they’re likely to have at least a few instances in which their child was disrespectful, rude or inconsiderate – even outright defiant. Sometimes disrespect comes along with adolescence; other times a child may show disrespectful behavior from an early age. Either way, it’s a behavior that can push any parent’s emotional buttons!

Read more: http://www.empoweringparents.com/category-Disrespect.php#ixzz2v6q5LEOf
I don't think it's fair to disrespect your parents, because most of the times our parents love us more than anything and they would do anything for their children. Treat EVERYBODY how you want to be treated :)

So disrespecting parents= bad
Respecting parents= awesome sauce!

Challenge 18: Your beliefs

I believe in the following:

http://mormon.org/beliefs/articles-of-faith

  1. I believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
  2. I believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression.
  3. I believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
  4. I believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
  5. I believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
  6. I believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
  7. I believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
  8. I believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

  10. I believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
  11. I claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
  12. O believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
  13. I believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul-We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

And I believe in pizza, because I think it's celestial.

I'm reeeaaaalllyyyy tired right now, so if I don't make any sense..well...that sucks..

My lows were coming back early from my mission.

And actually that was about it. Let me know if you want to know more!

The Difference

I got op early one morning and rushed right into the day:
I had so much to accomplish that I didn't have time to pray.
Problems just tumbled about me and heavier came each task.
'Why doesn't God help me?' I wondered, He answered:
'Because you didn't ask'.

I wanted to see joy and beauty.
But the day toiled on, gray, and bleak:
I wondered why God didn't show me. He said:
'But you didn't seek.'

I tried to come into God's presence, I used all my keys at the lock,
God gently and lovingly chided:
'My child, you didn't knock.'

I woke up early this morning and paused before entering the day.
I had so much to accomplish, that I had to take time to pray.

Challenge 16: Your views on mainstream music

Mainstream music denotes music that is familiar to the masses, as for example popular music, pop music, middle of the road music, pop rap or pop rock: Mainstream jazz is generally seen as an evolution of be-bop, which was originally regarded as radical.
Opposing mainstream music is the music of subcultures. This exists in virtually all genres of music and is found commonly in punk rock, indie rock, alternative/underground hip hop, anti-folk and heavy metal, among others. In the 1960s this music was exemplified by the music of the hippie counterculture.

Yeah so mainstream music is..okay..nice...don't really have an opinion about it!

Challenge 14: Your latest memory

My latest memory? Hmm, that would be with the sister missionaries here serving in Groningen actually.

Wednesday evening: So we were going to a student who lives in an elementary school ( was abandoned of course, but they have to move out because there is a school coming back in there) anyway it is a very awesome place to live in, who knew huh.

We had a good conversation about the church and the principles. Then he talked about that he's concerned about following the crowd instead of being himself. I don't follow the crowd. I explained that instead that I'm not a mere sheep, I'm a cow! Again Jenny-logic...you'll understand if you know me :)

When the sisters and I went to drop me off at a bus stop, they talked about a couple who's dropping them- because they think they are brainwashed. Let me clear something out: I'M NOT BRAINWASHED, NOBODY IS BRAINWASHED. We are actually sitting in church by our own free will- surprise! Ugh, sorry I get really frustrated about it, because it's just plain stupid that people think that. Anyway, ranting part is over.

I think this was my latest memory- I was sick yesterday and that's no fun memory so I decided to write about the Joint Teach with the sisters :-D

Challenge 10: Discuss your first love and first kiss

So everybody can skip this part please...no? Okkkaaayyy then I'll tell you my story.

My first love was a brother of a really good friend of mine. I was around the age of 13/14 and I met him at a church activity. When I first saw him it was love at first sight- at least for me it was. And then I asked his e-mail adress and we chatted for a long time. After a while we met up and I honestly can't remember anymore how it went, but we went from friends to boyfriend/girlfriend. I think we dated for...4/5 months? And then he broke up with me, snif snif. But that's all gooooood, since it's like been forever we dated. But sometimes when I see his picture, I still think he's handsome. We broke of as friends, so everything's cool :-D

Uhm..my first kiss...I HAVE NO IDEA. Really I don't...and no I'm not that old that I can't remember -.-'. My kiss on the mouth was with the guy I mentioned before. The 'French' kiss was when I was 15..on a bench..somewhere in Holland. It wasn't even my boyfriend when I think about it huh. Anyway, so that's about it...no exciting stuff teehee.

Only kiss and date with someone you like or love!

Challenge 9: How you hope your future will be like

I heard today that people are actually reading my blog- yeey! I just came from church where it felt like you were chilling on the sun..not cool...get it 'cool' haha

Anyway, after my awkward inside joke; how I hope my future will be like. I'm going to marry a dark, handsome tall guy and then we'll live in a huge mansion with a lot of maids and cleaners. I'll have a huge backyard where there's a swimming pool and a tennis court. And I have a really nice car.

This is what I told everybody when I was like 15/16. However how nice this sounds, I am going to change a few things. I HOPE that I get married and have a nice car haha :'). I realized today that, if my husband wants to, I really want to live in Germany. So I'm hoping that in the future I'll have a great husband, a nice car and a humble home somewhere in Germany..with the cows!

Just hoping for a normal, quiet life and living happily ever after!..with the cows!

Challenge 8: A moment you felt the most satisfied with your life

When I look back at my life, there are a few moments when I felt satisfied with my life; when I graduated school 2 times, when I repented of the bad things I did, when I work hard for something and get rewarded for it.

The thing is though, I always get a second chance. I'll fail the first time and the second time I'll succeed. And this just....sucks..sometimes you want to get it right the first time and just be done with it. Example is that I worked my bum off for a test and I failed. This is actually pretty hard for me, because I have the feeling that I will fail every single time I do something.

The only time when I truelly felt satisfied and didn't have to worry about failing was before my mission..I was spiritually prepared for everything, I was one of the happiest person on earth and I, in my opinion, had no problems at all. At least that was the way how I felt it.

But life did teach me one thing: you have to work hard for what you want.
'Success is not final; failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.

Challenga 7: Your zodiac sign and if you think it fits your personality

Gueesssss what I am?...nope…nope…nope, not that one…it’s LIBRA, also known as the scales..kinda funny because I always battle with my weight, but then again who doesn’t teeheeeee.

This is what I found about Libra:
Libra Strength Keywords                 What I think
- Diplomatic                                                   Meehhhh
- Graceful                                                      We’re talking about me right?
- Peaceful                                                       Hell yeah!
- Idealistic                                                      Meeehhh
- Hospitable                                                   Hmmm, I guess…

Read the following, to see how I function:

Libra Deep Inside:

‘They are also likely to hide or bend their own true feelings in order to bring peace with a group and to make others like them. Sometime this results in them not really knowing what their true feelings are because they are trying to make everyone happy. Other people can see this and Libras have earned themselves a reputation for being indecisive, they simply do not want to hurt anyone's feelings or cause disorder or friction in a situation. This spills over inside the person and many times, Libras have difficulty making decisions. Inside, the Libra is very insecure, they suffer from a lack of self confidence, they are always searching for something to complete them. This is another reason why they are social butterflies, it is an unconscious attempt to find the missing peace through other people. By trying to appease other people all the time, Libras don't really know who they are inside. Libras desperately need love and approval, they will do the favors that people ask and and have a hard time saying 'no' or 'I'm too busy' in order to prove how nice they are, this gradually builds up resentment and negative self esteem issues inside. Libra's indecisiveness is caused by fear, their fear that a wrong decision will make everything come crashing down around them and cause turmoil in their lives. Life is not like that and the Libra that acknowledges the fact that life has ups and downs will be less emotionally wound up, not so hard on themselves and as a result, they will be a much happier person.’

And that my friend is the way the cookie crumbles :-D Thank you Bruce Almighty for that awesome quote.

Challenge 5: A time you thought about ending your own life

Wauw...I have to admit from discussing religion and faith to thinking about ending your own life is deep dude..who makes these challenges haha?

Okay, so I think almost everybody had the thought; What would it be like if I won't be here anymore? To be released of the pain you have to go through every time, maybe even every day?

Sometimes when I thought about ending my life, I thought about people who had their own difficulties...I am most definitely not the only person who experienced a lot of pain or agony.

I learned that everybody I know, and I'm not joking or exaggerating, has been through a lot..I learned that everybody has or had a bad experience. So whenever I thought about ending my life, I thought about people, who had worse experiences and that they are still alive. Without the bad experiences, I wouldn't have known happiness.

I'm a fighter not a quitter.

Challenge 4: Your view on religion

Sorry, didn't upload a message yesterday....nehhh not sorry

So. My view on religion. Did I tell you that I'm mormon? Yes? Well...I JUST LOVE BEING MORMON. So religion is , in my opinion, believing in God. Some people don't believe in a God. That's a pity, because I know that there's a God and He cares about you :-)

Believing is not something you see, but you feel it. You know the feeling when something reeeaaaalllyy isn't right to do or something is really good? Yeah, you can compare believing in God to that. I FELT and still FEEL His love every single day of my life. And nobody can ever- and I mean ever ever- take that away. I have milions of situations where 'coincidence' doesn't excist.

Sure bad things happens, but God let bad things happen because we learn how to grow of it and we learn wise lessons. And I can imagine when you're stuck in a depression or a bad experience that you don't believe in a God. 'But this too shall pass' and afterwards, you will be grateful for that experience, because you learnt so much of it.

We all have the freedom to believe in something...let's use that freedom :)

Challenge 3: Your views on drugs and alcohol

I reaaallyy suck at being consequent, but it's day 3 and I'm still doing the challenge- go me!

Anyway, today we're going to talk about my view on drugs and alcohol...and some of you might know that I'm mormon..don't know what it is? Check it out on; www.lds.org. So your first reaction might be; Ohh she's mormon she's not allowed to drink alcohol or do drugs..WRONG. I can do anything I want, with consequences for sure, but I still have free choice. And I choose not to drink and do drugs becaaauuusssee:
1. It stinks.
2. It doesn't make you feel better in the long run.
3. It isn't even tasty.
4. You do really stupid stuff.
5. Really, should I go on with the list?

These are MY reasons to not to do this kind of stuff..yes I do have some experiences with it (except for drugs, no drugs for Jenny...I mean come on I'm crazy enough without the drugs!) and I only did it because it felt like I was a part of society and I thought it would make me feel better. You know what makes you feel better? Chocolate, teehee!

Don't do drugs or drink alcohol because you feel like you need to. You can live without the experience doing that..trust me you will not miss out on anything ;)

Stay healthy!

Challenge 2; Where you'd like to be in 10 years

Where do I like to be in 10 years...to be honest I live in the moment. I tried to plan my life ahead, but guess what? It doesn't work that way haha.

But where I would like to be in 10 years? I would have a husband, who would do anything for me (just kidding!). But at least a relationship/husband, a nice house which I love to decorate, maybe a dog...2 kids? It depends if my kids are old enough to be by themselfs, if not I would be a housewife and if they are old enough, I would have a fun job :) OOH and I would drive a Alfa Romeo, because I like fast cars.

Sigh, it would be nice if it would go that way...but let's just live in the moment...YOLO!
